~ Look Up ~

Sometimes we just want things to be
clear and simple.
nice and easy.
smooth and breezy.

But then we meet life.  And what life throws at us. And all of a sudden what seemed so clear becomes blurred, misty and vague.

And all of a sudden what seemed so simple becomes complex, complicated and confusing.

And all of a sudden what worked so smoothly, doesn’t seem to work anymore.

And that’s when we start to think that
somehow we must have done something wrong.
somehow we must have missed something somewhere.
somehow we must have failed.

We try to get back to how things were yesterday.
Pretend that everything still works the way it did.
That everything is still smooth and breezy.
But we can not shake off that nasty feeling of discomfort.
That nagging sense that something’s off.
That persistent itch of uneasiness.

And so finally we give in.
Finally we allow ourselves to visit that dreaded no man’s land of
questions without answers.
pages without words.
streets with no name.

That place where the question lives but the answer has not been seen yet.
That place where we feel lost.

Uncomfortable.
Uncertain.
Unclear.

But the thing is that we need to go through that somewhere-in-between.
We need to challenge our assumptions and beliefs, play with new ones, try them on and see how they work.

We need to step out and do things even when we’re not 100% sure of what the outcome will be.

We need to explore and investigate what our thing is.  And what isn’t.
That’s when we’ll bump into to them.

The answer to the question.
The words for the page.
The name for the street.

That’s when we’ll run into them.
Those moments where we wow ourselves.
Those ideas that make us giddy with excitement.
That inspiration that makes our energy soar.

And then, things settle down,
clear and simple.
nice and easy.
smooth and breezy.

And that’s exactly how

we grow.
we learn.
we change.

That’s exactly how we live.

That exactly is life.
